I’ve been disillusioned with Facebook for some years now, but I feel unable to delete the app since it still holds many happy memories and details and contacts of several friends with whom I’d have no other easy contact. I now get very frustrated with all the adverts and posts from people I don’t know that FB thinks I might like. Also, many of the people I am friends with appear to use it less, and so its appeal has fallen.
However, it is the place where I stored all my cycling reports, so I thought that getting rid would lose all that history. But I didn’t allow for a suggestion from my son who was stuck for something to buy me for my birthday and proposed setting up my own website where I could store all kinds of documents and photographs.
So now, I have an embryonic website holding all my cycling reports, which go back over five years, and a whole lot more. It’s very amateurish and clunky (and will remain so until I can devote more time to it and learn how to polish it up a bit, but that’s a winter job)
Anyway, if you were expecting my latest report from a short cycling tour to Hathersage and around the Derbyshire Dales to be on Facebook, I need to advise that it’s now here.
Enjoy. All comments (critical or otherwise) will be very welcome.
